Background
Rupee symbol dervied official recognisation in the year 2010. Windows 7 onwards it is supported in all versions. It was introduced in unicode as separate sybmol ₹. Unfortunately dedicated key like $ for ₹ symbol is not available in Keyboard. So, various methods to insert it in Excel are discussed in this article.
Using MS-Word
- Open MS-Word
- Write 20B9
- Press Alt + X
- Given text will convert to rupee symbol
- Copy and Paste it in Excel
Using UNICHAR function in Excel
- Write =UNICHAR(8377) in any cell
- Copy and Paste-special the value wherever required
Note: UNICHAR function is supported in Excel 2013 or higher version or Office 365 only
Using Excel-BI add-in
